Stirring up trouble

Your truely has been raising cane over this thread at Orthodoxchristianity.net

The Nature of Hell: Eternal or Not?

"Many will go to hell, but hell is not eternal...all will eventually be restored to Communion with God." (quoted from a Greek Orthodox Christian convert no less....)

Anyway its been both fun, and a good chance to sharpen my apologetics sword against a literal professing Origenist. Anyway its nice to know that when you get tired of "The Scandal of the Evangelical mind", there are a few "Orthodox" heretics that can give you a real run for your money! :)

Ugh! This is why I stay away from message boards. Where are you, anyway? I read several posts down and didn't see anything that looked like your style of writing.

I'm a late joiner on it. Shoot I don't think I really started posting till the end of page 4 or the start of page 5. I have the name Addai, just like on the ooze, with smiling abba Pishoy Kamel picture avatar.

Inspite of the controversy. It's been educational. Kristos Anesti a veryknowedgeable guy informed me of some Coptic copinion on the topic.

and some pro, people on the EO side of this issue also made some good points.

This issue is really important. Besides the obvious Unitarian aspects of protestantism, their are some Orthodox that are sort of trying to do the same.

Since the issue is so complex, it easy to give an answer that is less than exact or correct. My priest on the issue gave a very basic answer that many were unhappy with.

Anyway I think the issue will be very productive. If people can avoid the usual bashing. Of course, I will probably be doing a little of that since the guy who is promoting this seems to be trying to take advantage of loopholes etc. to advance his own personal doctrine.

By the way this would be a great topic for you to ask your priest about. I would love tho hear what he has to say...

Kh. Frederica just wrote an article on "why we need hell."

I'm actually going to start a new thread on that board probably tomorrow, covering the issue from hopefully a more precise dogmatic perspective.

I'm doing so because I think it's good to start with "a clean slate". With some peoples emotions running high, and with me not stating some things as well as I could have. Anyway when I restart it, I will post a link here.

Pavel,

Start a new message board. I don't think I have the maturity that it would take to stay on the Ooze. One of the most interesting threads "is believe in the Resurrection necessary for Salvation" was locked by a mod because we were talking about Salvation, and that is TOO PERSONAL!!!

YAHHHHHH!!!!

How can CHRISTIANS be arguing against the Need to BELIEVE in the Resurrection!!!

help! I will be posting here some I think.. even that 'other place we post'

I may have to abandon that as well.

Pray for me a sinner.

I just saw that yesterday! I think it was the bad feelings with ST that was mostly why it got closed.

I was happy to see the more conservative elements of the ooze really start speaking out.

"How can CHRISTIANS be arguing against the Need to BELIEVE in the Resurrection!!!"

Yeah and I saw some of the stuff Noels "you know who" was saying too. (I took some pot shots at him for being very dismissive of St. Paul and his "legalism").

"I may have to abandon that as well."

Yeah I've really though seriously of completely giving it up. My particpation has shrunk to only a small fraction of what it once was. Which may not completely be a bad thing.

I think they may need the conservatives to leave and more Christapagans, Christian Wifeswappers, Emergent Manicheans and other groups show up to bring the rest of the believers on that board to their senses.

PAvel (blogger id acted up again)

BTW, I told Jancie I'm so fed up with our current situation that I'm tempted to just pack it in and move.

She wants pictures of the area you and Fr. Stan are living at. She's intrigued and says she wants to help make Holy Chocolate....

The inside looks like a wherehouse cluttered with all kinds of boxes etc. I'll see about posting some pics of the area, church and so on.

Seraphim maybe you should just come visit first. :)

And also check out the housing prices in the Bay Area. It may scare you away! It scares me and I've been living here for a year now.

Gina,

When I lived on Treasure Island, the price of 'flats' in San Francisco were scarey then! And that was in 1986! LOL...
